I’ve become a good bit more active on the JaguarPC bulletin board, mainly answering questions, occasionally asking one. I also started a thread in an attempt to explain the inherent issues with server moves and the general atmosphere of support staffs in the midst of an emergency. Judging by the responses I received to the thread the post went over well, but I have a feeling I annoyed a few people.
Quite a few of their customers (mainly those who had been on the recently aquired Aletia servers) have had some harsh experiences, compounded by the server move. And though I can empathize, I don’t agree with the way some of them are handling it. The levels of immaturity have risen substantially. Some of them get mad when they are asked for additional information, expecting the support staff to know every detail of the Web site…
The post in question was rather long and I did my best to provide a ton of information. In replying to another post I noticed that my messages are getting to be pretty long.
I think I’m providing useful information, but how do I know that what I am providing is truly useful? Am I turning into that guy that everyone ignores because he blathers? Well, until someone tells me off, I’m going to continue to post at length if I think it’s helpful.
