To be honest, I don’t recall how I found Sgt Hook’s site, but I count myself very lucky that I did. Providing an on-the-ground perspective in Afghanistan, Sgt Hook writes about the events we rarely hear about (especially with so much focus on Iraq), without the media hype or government spin. The entries on his site are written in a comfortable and relaxed manor, much like the stories you might trade with a soldier sitting next to you in a bar. Sometimes humorous, sometimes serious, often introspective and eye-opening, the soldier’s blog is set to become a daily fixture in my Web reading.
Of everything he has written, I highly recommend you read Operation Shoe Fly first.
