Cameron Moll provides a great breakdown of the Web design community, and its reasons for site redesigns in Good Designers Redesign, Great Designers Realign. Not only does he break down the reasons behind the realigners and the redesigners (“The desire to redesign is aesthetic-driven, while the desire to realign is purpose-driven.”), he provides solid examples of realignment success. It is good to see Cameron, and A List Apart, some of the leading voices in the Web community, speaking out against redesign for redesign’s sake. It is yet another shining demonstration of the growing maturity of our profession.
