Every time I see that there is a new story on Waiter Rant, my day improves. I find it extremely easy to fall into each story, as if I were a patron, or perhaps a busboy in the restaurant. In addition to the well written narrative, the sarcastic asides and sharp wit appeal to my sense of humor and general world view.
On the best days, I get a chance to read about the world balancing itself, if only a little bit. You see, many people don’t realize that people in the service industry (wait staff, hotel clerks and retails staff included) are often given the opportunity to be an instrument of karma. This may not seem like a grand power, and at times it can be abused, but in the hands of a professional, it is beautiful to behold. The archives are chock full of great examples. Good advice is sprinkled throughout the site, including tips instructing you as to how to get the wait staff to remember your name should you be a regular customer. Good stuff all around.
