Nick Gagne has posted a great explanation of the vertical-align
property which is a must read for every front-end Web developer. The examples wrap it up beautifully. Good stuff!

The New Standard Feed Icon
Matt Brett provides a set of Illustrator and Photoshop files for those wanting to implement the The New Standard Feed Icon in use by Firefox and IE 7.
It’s easily customizable for anyone who is familiar with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. I’ve put together a little package containing 18 files. 14 PSDs in different sizes ranging from 16×16 to 128×128. They come in the default orange and grayscale for those who would prefer to customize them to match their site – as I’ve already done. There’s also 4 Illustrator files. Both colour variations which come in 2 versions of Illustrator – CS2 and 10 for those running older versions.

iIR: img Image Replacement
iIR: img Image Replacement appears to be a great way to provide images for both the on-screen and print versions of a site, without adding additional markup, nor sacrificing usability and accessibility when images are disabled.
The one thing I’m not so keen on is the fact that you are forcing the user to download the print version of the image before they have decided they want to print the page – or, more importantly if they want to print the page.
A discussion of the concept is running at the associated blog entry.

What future for web designers?
Mathew Patterson has posted an interesting entry on his site entitled What future for web designers? – a good conversation to which I contributed my thoughts.
